Aug 22, 2013 1:04 PM in response to Dale Weisshaarby echoimpact,Running 10.8.4. I've used Disk Utiliy to scan and reset permissions and also Disk Warrior. Just slows down a few times a week and I have to do the SMC reset and repair utilities to get the speed back up. Feel like I should have to do this so often.

Aug 31, 2013 4:55 PM in response to AppleFixitGuyby ballyeden,I also signed in to say thank you. I was beginning to hate all things Apple. For the last 3 years I have been slowly porting over to the world of Apple: first with an iPhone, iPad and then last year - a MacBook Pro. My slow Mac was driving me to the point where I wanted to throw it against the wall. Even took my MacBook into the Genius bar where they kept it for three days only to announce there was nothing wrong. This little 10 second miracle fixed my issue! Thank you so much!

Aug 31, 2013 5:56 PM in response to AppleFixitGuyby summerhillmusic,You sir, are a prince among men. I've been a Mac user since the 80's but lately my MBP had gotten sluggish, I'd gone through all the paces but nothing really seemed to click, randomly came across your post about the left shift, option, control + power move - NIGHT & DAY.
You seriously fixed my entire setup, I produce & play live with Ableton and with a party coming up this month I just can't afford any latency, this trick fixed the whole game.
Many many thanks to AppleFixitGuy!!

Sep 1, 2013 2:19 PM in response to zen_kvby topiarymailbox,I wish I was logging in to say how wonderfully left shift, control, option, power button worked. But it didn't work.
I don't have problems when I'm not on-line, but Safari and Firefox act like I'm on an old dial-up. And not just when I'm home, so it isn't a router problem.
I have a Macbook Pro running 10.7.5.
2/3 of my hard disc space is free. Disc Repair says the disc doesn't need to be repaired. I have typed "purge" into Terminal. And I tried the left shift, control, option, power button fix twice, without result.
What could be going on? Any help GREATLY appricated.

Oct 26, 2013 9:18 AM in response to AppleFixitGuyby Ucrania,It worked for me too. But after 20/30 mins it starts slowering again. I do the magic trick and works over and over, but it's annoying to reset my Mac every half an hour of using it. Any ideas or permanent solutions?
Thanks!

Nov 1, 2013 7:55 AM in response to AppleFixitGuyby akamswonderful,That is genious! the CTRL+SHIFT+OPTION+ON/OFF button. Oh my god, its like a brand new laptop again! I, too, tried a ton of fancy suggestions, i.e. cleaning up disk space, running Mac Cleanup software, etc. And this is actually the only suggestion that made my computer stop freezing up. Goodness, I am so thankful!
