Help!!! iPhone Not Displaying Release Dates From the Twentieth Century

I'm having problems with the release date tag on bought / manually tagged ACC files on my iPhone. The release date tag shows on any song released in the twenty-first century. Any song tagged or bought with a released in the twentieth century does not have the full tag. For example, if the song has the tag 1984-01-27T07:00:00Z, on my iPhone it displays as ‘’1984.’’ If the tag is 2012-10-29T07:00:00Z it displays as ‘’October 29, 2012.’’ I’m just wondering why songs in the twentieth century don’t show up properly on my iPhone.
