I have always liked to edit by having my computer read my writing aloud to me. I can't figure out how to do that in Pages, although I could always do it in Claris and Apple Works. Can anyone help me?

Are you really using Panther, 10.3.6, as your profile says? What version of Pages are you using?
I figured out how to do it in Mountain Lion, 10.8.2, & Tiger, 10.4.11. Both 10.8.2 & 10.4.11 work the same. Go to System Preferences > Speech (Dictation & Speech in Mountain Lion) > Text to Speech & check the box next to Speak selected text. You may need to set a key combo as I did in Tiger, but Mountain Lion has a default combo set.
