Must students have an iPod/iPhone/iPad to view an iTunes U course?

I was setting up a course in iTunes U Course Manager before noticing that "Students can access your course and materials ... through the iTunes U app on their iOS devices 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."

Surely iTunes U can be viewed by students on other operating systems, or with desktops and laptops. Right? I have courses that I view on my macbook. What am I missing?
