If the Facetime app is installed in your device, the first step in the process is to provide an e-mail address which will be used in conjunction with your Facetime Account (it can be the same e-mail which is associated with your Apple id) If you did that, Apple should have sent you a verification E-mail to that address, and you must verify that e-mail address by clicking on the link imbeded in the verification e-mail. You would then go on to provide any other pertinent information that's asked for in the setup process.
