Ipod and iBook problems

I re-installed OSX and when I got itunes working again my ipod would not update when I wnted to add more songs I just bought?? I am not trying to upload my ipod songs but trying to download into the ipod. iTunes asks if I want to erase my ipod and link it to this library. How do I link my iPod to my itunes library without erasing my Ipod?? This is so frustrating!!!

When you updat your ipod, it will mirror what's in your itunes library.

If you have all your music in your itunes library, erasing your ipod won't matter because it'll just put all the songs back on again.

If you dont have all your songs in your itunes library, and you only have them on your ipod, there are 3rd party softwares that can get the songs off your ipod onto your computer. I've never used any so i dont know what they are called..

Use the instructions in this article to transfer new music onto the iPod without erasing what's already there. This will not work with an iPod shuffle.

You are the man! That is just what I needed to know. Your link was very usefull!!I tried to use an application to transfer songs from my iPod to iTunes but since I have a nano with the latest updates the firmware settings make the application useless.
