Upgraded to mountain lion and all icons, text, box sizes are small

Hi, I upgraded from snow lepoard to mountain lion yesterday. All seems ok except EVERYTHING is really small. I consider myself to have good eye sight but this is ridicioulous. Any suggestions would be much appreciated? I've tried all the system preferences. I have currently selected large icons and size 16 font and it hasn't improved much. When opening applications such as internet the screen doesn't seem to fit the menu box and the text is like a size 8. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
