why is osx 10.8.2 so slow?

1. Go Google and you'll find CHKDSK from another world. Just comparison, no need to deny a fact.

2. I did said Disk Utility was run but found nothing wrong, didn't I?

3. fsck? Yes, tried but useless in that case. (It's about a crashing disk, not about the consistence of a file system.) Apple Store also used their tool to tap on my MBP, problem not diagnosed.

The problem also extended into a verification error on the Time Machine backup and deleted it too. So, I used my Carbon Copy backup.

To answer your second question first, that's like asking someone bobbing in an ocean to prove the existence of water. LOOK. AROUND. You don't need links, every fifth post is a justified problem/complaint. And that's being generous.

As far as the first question, hope springs eternal. I come here every now and then hoping that Apple has fixed things. So far, not.

And I keep HEARING that "millions of people are using ML for professional recording and editing." And every time I ask for proof, NONE IS OFFERED by presumed businesses out to, presumably, do business.

On the contrary, every business left on the MAC platform proud of its name and existence seems to be using Snow Leopard. That is, every business that HASN'T SWITCHED PLATFORMS in disgust and anger.

You need further proof? GOOGLE.

I repeat, stop complaining and trolling in the 10.8.2 Forums if you don't even use the system. You are in a troubleshooting forum. If you expect everything to be Rosy then you will be sadly disappointed. Thousands!! lol

Trolling describes what you are doing. I posted a solution, and you've done nothing but attack it as unnecessary when it, indeed, is working for thousands of professional businesses, to which anyone has to GOOGLE to find.

As far as being able to "afford" updating, it seems precious few sound and video businesses can "afford" the cost, no matter how cheap Apple makes it.

Technological advancement is one thing; Lion and Mountain Lion have NOTHING to do with technological advancement and everything to do with dismantling and in many ways gutting a formerly brilliant working OS to make a VERY buggy hybrid that can, very soon, "just work" on handheld toys.

But don't take my word for it; GOOGLE.

The solution of thousands is NOT useless to those who've solved their problems by rolling back their OS, nor is it MY solution.

I'm merely the messenger in this one thread.

It is an alternative, not a solution, and a desperate one at that. But good luck with it if it makes you happy and helps you make up unsupported numbers. lol

I did not think I'd be spending time with Terminal and the command line. If I wanted Linux I could have downloaded a better version on a much cheaper machine.
