Incorrect memory installed?

I have a late 2011 mac book pro 13.3 laptop. I recently installed 8gb of 1067mhz ddr3 memory. According to Apple my computer actually uses PC3-10600 DDR3 1333 MHz type RAM. How will this affect my computer and should I change the memory?

I recently had a conversation with Apple support and I raised this issue with them. If you install 1333 Hz RAM in your MBP, it will recognize it and run at that speed. If you have 1066 Hz, it will accept and display it as 1066 Hz RAM, it but you will not get the benefit of the improved performance. According to Apple support, no harm will be done.

My recommendation is if you have the option, return the RAM and get the 1333 Hz RAM instead. Let you MBP operate the way it has been designed.

Ciao.
