Help backup Itunes to Seagate backup plus usb 3.0

I just bought a 500 GB seagate backup plus USB 3.0 and I cannot get my itunes to back up to it. If I drag my itunes or itunes media folders to the seagate icon there is a cancel sign that will not allow me to transfer my music. Please help with this.

Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to the External Drive...

Most likely the drive is formatted NTFS which Mac OS does not write to.

I suggest you simply reformat it (Mac OS Extended, Journaled) and enable Time Machine (rather than copying only the iTunes folder).
