Mar 22, 2013 10:22 AM in response to XcallibuRby aesten,I have the 13" MacBook Pro 2.9Ghz i7 MD102B/A 8GB Ram. Purchased on the 4th March 2013 from PC World.
The Mac came loaded with Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
The machine is advertised as having Audio Line In/Out. An audio line in option was very much part of my purchase decision.
Today I needed to use the Audio Line In function. Like others disovered.... It's not there!
I'm quite frankly very annoyed that I have bought something that is NOT as advertised and therefore blatantly (arrogantly) contravenes the Sales of Goods Act 1979.
• Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale).

It has never been advertised as having an audio in.

It is exactly as advertised.
Post a link to the ad you are looking at.

Mar 22, 2013 4:13 PM in response to Csound1by aesten,I must correct you. It has clearly been advertised on the Apple site, in the apple stores and at PC World.
First off look at the link posted by XcallibuR : http://support.apple.com/kb/SP645
You will note:
Audio
- Stereo speakers with subwoofer
- Omnidirectional microphone
- Combined headphone/line in (supports digital output)
- Support for Apple iPhone headset with microphone
Now for the the ad on PC World:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/apple-13-macbook-pro-md102b-a-laptop-13730048-pdt. html
You will Note:
Audio interface Audio line in/out Now, I dont wish to be perceived as b eing rude: But please do some research before comenting.

Mar 22, 2013 4:24 PM in response to aestenby Csound1,Show me where Apple advertised the 13" 2012 models as having Line In (audio in) I could not care less what some retailer (who obviously just copied the earlier model spec) thinks.
As for the other link, it's a different model (2011)
I also have no desire to be rude but research is best done before purchasing, and the manufacturer is the one with the correct answers.

Then post a link the advertisement, I don't believe you and don't expect that you will be able to.
We are talking about mid 2012 13"MacBook Pro's.
Link please.

I don't understand why you would go out of your way to refute what is so painfully obvious and continue to mislead readers on this forum.
I bought the 2012 13" MBP with Mountain Lion already installed and it was indeed advertised as having audio in/out capabilities and the feature was removed.
All we can hope for is that they get so many complaints about the issue that they release a patch for it.
Oh, and here's a picture of the Quick Start Guide that came within my MBP's box. Unfortunately it's in spanish, but I'm quite sure you can tell that it advertises the dual capability of the port.

May 28, 2013 1:58 PM in response to ReCaRiby Csound1,Please post the entire page, that could be any model.
We are referring only to the post 2011 13" model and I think that you have posted a different model.
Here is the specification for a 13" 2012 MBP, note that there is no Audio input listed. (Or fitted) so the question is why are you encouraging people who need an audio in to buy the only Mac that doesn't have one?

May 28, 2013 2:02 PM in response to Csound1by ReCaRi,This is my last post on the subject since you have proven once again not to read previous posts before replying. You didn't even read mine before posting.
I specifically said, as did other people to whom you wrongfully replied that I own the 2012 13" Macbook Pro

Jul 17, 2013 6:05 AM in response to Csound1by helen_vr,Good lord, CSound1 - why insist that people aren't having a problem that they *are* having? I bought my MacBook Pro 13" a few months ago, and I too am shocked that it no longer offers line-in. It wasn't mentioned when I bought it, and I didn't assume that I would be losing facilities I had in my last MBP. And here is what Apple are still falsely advising:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3625Doesn't work. No line-in. Now I will have to buy an external soundcard, which is a pain in the arse. I'm finally starting to lose patience with Apple, and considering a PC next time... The intrusive Apple Store is annoying too. Also the fact that you have to manually turn off the option to download software ONLY from the Apple Store. They're becoming bossy and controlling, more than I would like - and removing essential functions without mentioning it is not on.

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3625Do you have comprehension issues helen?I have been saying that 2012 and later 13" MBP's do not have an audio line in, and as you have found out, they don't. Whether this is a problem is up to you, the specification on the Apple Store accurately describes the available facilities.
(It doesn't help that we stll have people such as ReCaRi who keep on insisting that there is an audio line-in on the machine, thus misleading others)

If you don't like Apple products do yourself a favor and don't buy one.

Jul 17, 2013 7:15 AM in response to Csound1by helen_vr,Do I have comprehension issues? No, I don't.
I'm just not a swivel-eyed Apple fangirl, inspite of having used Macs ever since I began. -
Jul 17, 2013 7:27 AM in response to helen_vrby Csound1,Then what is your issue with me saying that 2012 and later 13" models have no audio line inputs?
