iPad mini no connect w/Verizon MiFi

I just got an iPad Mini WiFi. Everything's working fine. It hooks up with the home network fine. It hooks up to WiFi out in the world just fine. However where it isn't fine is with my Verizon MiFi personal network. I can't blame Verizon for this because my MBAir hooks up to it without a glitch as does both our iPhone (iOS 5&6) as does our old 1st gen iPad. But try as I might the Mini refuses to link-up.

Anyone with similar experience and hopefully a solution to it?

Some things to try first:

1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

• Launch Settings app

• Tap on Wi-Fi

• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Thanks Texas Mac man,

I finally was able to get my Ipad 2 to connect with the Verizon MiFi 4510L Jetpack. Even thought my Android phone and Windows 7 PC connected out of the box, I spent about 4 hours trouble shooting the Ipad 2 and the MiFi.

Your article links helped me come up with the following settings that worked.

Changed Network Name (SSID) to something small with 10 continuous letters

802.11 Mode set to 802.11g + 802.11b

WMM (Wi-Fi Multimedia) set to Backward compatibility

Channel set to 6

Security set to WPA2 Personal/PSK (AES)

Authentication left as Open Access by default

Network Key changed to 8 continuous numbers (random)

Selected profile set to Secure

And this made it work.

Thanks,

Mo
