Drivers for the MG6220 are included in OS X 10.8, so there should be nothing to install. Just connect the printer, turn it on, and it should be recognized and set up automatically. If you have problems, post back with details and someone can probably offer further advice.
Regards.
Drivers for printers aren't included anymore. Software Update downloads the driver if the printer is recognized.
OK, perhaps I should have said "drivers are automatically installed in 10.8". The point is that the OP should not have to do any special install process. And actually some drivers are installed in 10.8 even if no printer is connected. I have Canon drivers on my system though I've never connected any Canon printer to this Mac.
Regards.
Drivers from older systems are still there if you do an update. If you do a fresh install of the system, though, some sort of installation needs to take place, whether through software update or by downloading the driver.
I did a fresh install of 10.8 on an empty drive, and drivers for Canon printers were still installed by default.
In any case, again, the OP should have to do no special procedure for his/her Canon printer to be recognized and set up. It should be automatic.
Regards.
Did you have the printer attached when doing the install? I know that the printer packages have been removed from the installer, but, if the printer was attached, maybe the download took place as part of the installation?
Yes, I agree, it should be automatic.
I don't even own or have access to a Canon printer, so no, that was not the case. I peeled apart the 10.8 installer package and the Canon BubbleJet and scanner drivers are definitely included. Those are the only ones that are; no idea why.
Regards.
My apologies. You're right, there is a Canon folder after a clean install, but it doesn't look like any of the ppds are installed. And Canon is the only manufacturer that is partially pre-installed. Anyway, again, my apologies for disagreeing.
