Mail icon shows unread messages
My mail icon shows 112 new messages. Even when I delete messages or get new once it will not change. I have no unread messages. How can I reset it to 0?

Do a reset, no data loss, hold down the home/power button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
It will not change. Did at least 5 rebbots already.
Double tap the home screen, hold down the mail app, click the red minus sign, shut off/on your phone and see if that works.
I meant reboots, sorry.
Negative.
You could do a restore and fix the problem. The restore would be done by plugging your iPhone into iTunes, doing a sync and then click the "Restore" button on the right side.
This will, however, remove all your email messages from your iPhone.
Is you mail an IMAP (gmail, iCloud) or POP?
I have 2 accounts on it. One is corporate and the other one is AOL.
Try this.
1)Double tap the home screen, hold down the mail app, click the red minus sign.
2)Go to Settings>Notifications>Mail>Badge icon>OFF.
3)Open Mail app and close it back. Double tap the home screen, hold down the mail app, click the red minus sign.
4)Go to Settings>Notifications>Mail>Badge icon>ON
If this doesn't work try to reset before step 4. (Hold down Power and Home button until Apple logo appears. Ignore "Slide to Power off". When Apple logo appears release and wait to reboot.
You need to check to see if you have any draft messages saved on the email system.
I have recently had this problem. I had a number of drafts saved on an exchange server. Deleting them sorted this problem. (Remember if you use a mac then emails are often saved to draft as they are being written)
