Are there any fake 5th gen ipod touch about

my wife ordered a gth gen ipod touch from a website, value basket, it looks legit, however, when it arrived today the packing it came in by courier said Hong Kong, where as the site doesnt mention it coming from there and we took it as being UK stock,

Im not worried if its legit, but coming from hong kong, I am a bit worried if it may be a fake if there are any around on the 5th gen, I cant open the case to check anything as I have requested a return under a 14 day return policy, not that I would know what to look for anyway, i have read some reviews about the site and they do seem to do a lot of sales on loads of different stuff from cameras. lenses, etc etc. but have mixed feedback regarding delivery times etc,

Brilliant.

Try connecting it to iTunes. A counterfeit iPod will not be able to do so.

the problem I have is that if I open the case breaking the seals, then I cannot return it under the 14 day return policy, then again if it is fake I sould be able to get a refund anyway..HHmmmm.....

even though it may be from hong kong, is it still covered by a UK warranty ?

The iPod are made/assembled in China and are shipped out via HK so coming for HK is not a tip off.

Enter the iPod's SN here and see if it has a warramty.

Does it work OK and does it sync and can you purchases items from the app store?

ok just opened it up, and got the serial number from the settings page on the ipod screen and stuck it in the link you provided, and it comes up fine, it also syncs wit itunes fine, havent tried buyng any apps as its a present for my daughter foe christmas, so from this information, does this sound Ok to you ?

and going off the apple web site info after entering the serial number, it should be covered by a international warranty I:E Uk ?

I would say it is real and covered by the Apple international iPod warranty. iPhone warranties are limited to where they were purchased.
