iCal not working

Since my Mac downloaded duplicate emails earlier this week my iCal is not working. If I log off and back on the iCal opens automatically but the screen is locked as such, I cant click on anything. It just shows the progress wheel but I cant even quit as the menu bar above doesnt come up!

Any help would be great!
