Do you have the latest service pack in XP? Can you start Scanner and Camera Wizard manually? If you go into Device manager, can you see any yellow exclamation points in the USB section? If yes, is one of them the iPhone? Are the pictures you are trying to transfer in the Camera Roll?

You may have to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. If so, use this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 and follow it to ensure you delete everything necessary before reinstalling.

Yes, the pics are in camera roll on the phone. Whenever I connect the phone, itunes (yes the latest greatest) launches. My PC doesn't seem to see the phone, aside from iTunes. I can't find it in windows explorer, my computer etc. What is going on!?!? Tried restart. Even tried another PC!! Latest XP YES. Device Manager is fine, no points.

Alright, you can try this support document for the iPhone not being recognized in Windows http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538. If that does not help, use the other support document I gave you to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. I would also suggest turning off auto start of iTunes when phone connected.

I appreciate your help. Another bit of info: iTunes does see the phone and sync's no problem. The phone does appear down the left column. I just can't bring pics onto my PC from the phone. FRUSTRATING!

If iTunes starts automatically when you connect your iPad to your computer, use the preferences menu in iTunes to deselect this activity. There is a selection that.will turn off iTunes auto start.

    Reboot your computer.

Connect your iPad and see if your Photo Wizard starts. If not start it manually and check its preferences setting to start automatically when a camera is attached to your computer.

I also have no idea how to turn off auto start of iTunes!

OK, figured out how to keep iTunes from auto starting. Now, absoutely nothing happens when I connect iPhone! It does not appear in explorer!

The only thing you want to happen when you connect the phone is to be able to import pictures, correct? Try this troubleshooting support document in regards to importing pictures http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. If that does not help, you may need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes, since the USB drivers for the iPhone are installed with iTunes. Could be one is corrupt if you are having trouble getting Windows to recognize the iPhone.

It wasn't appearing in Explorer before, was it?

OK, reinstalled iTunes 10 exactly as instructed. Still no luck. Phone has NEVER appeared in explorer, or anywhere else except iTunes. Perhaps I should try an app? Perhaps a wifi app? I have no trouble uploading to FB. Thanks for your help!

This sounds quite unusual, as having the device appear in iTunes is generally where the problem lies. If there are photos in the Camera Roll and the device is not causing a USB error in Device manager, and it is visible in iTunes, then I cannot think of a reason it should not show up in Windows. Since you reinstalled iTunes and it did not seem to change the appearence in Windows, the only thing I can think of is to look at an app in the app store to get the photos off.

By the way, how many pictures are on the device? When you tried another computer, what OS was it using?
