I would like to hook my laptop to my desktop and use my larger screen to edit pictures how do I do that

i would like to hook my laptop since it is much more updated and is running cs5 and lightroom 4 to my desktop which has a larger screen for editing

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

If this is just any 2 Macs, you may be able to use ScreenRecycler, from the same developer that wrote JollysFastVNC

In theory, a DisplayPort based iMac (something late 2009) can be used as an external screen from another Mac with DisplayPort or Thunderbolt port. I know that was one of the features listed back in 2009 when I got my 27" iMac, BUT I've never tried it, so I'm not sure of the details on making that work. I assume a mini-DisplayPort to mini-DisplayPort connector is needed, but that is just a guess.
