I cant get the mirroring to work on my apple TV from my Macbook Pro which is dated early 2011 (apple Tv specs say it should be compatible). It will movies through itunes only. I just want to watch movies off my external HDD without putting them on iTunes?

My Macbook pro is dated early 2011 (which is within the minimum requirements for apple tv mirroring) both Macbook and apple Tv have latest updates. My network is working. It will play movies through iTunes on the apple Tv but the mirroring wont work.

All i want to do is be able to watch movies off my external hard drive on my Tv without having to put them all into iTunes.

Can anyone help me out? is there some program or apple tv compatible media player i can download??

Cheers

Only Mid 2011 or newer Macs running OS X 10.8 (ML) can use AirPlay Mirroring.
