Nov 30, 2012 11:58 AM in response to tymmacby Luigino il Pazzo,Thanks for the pic, tymmac, but that shuffle button dosn't give me the option to shuffle by song. I finally found it in one the old fashioned menus.

Yes, since I just upgraded to iTunes 11 this morning, I went back to yesterday and grabbed 10. Didn't even put a wrinkle in my suit!!

Sorry Luigino, I guess you can't go back. Our best hope is that Apple brings back the DJ. Seems a LOT of people really miss it.

Nov 30, 2012 12:50 PM in response to Branden Williamsby AKMA,I didn't have the kinds of party that you're describing, but my wife did like adding songs to the iTunes DJ playlist via her remote.
And I counted on the 'Play Higher Rated Songs More Often' option to provide an aproximation for the multivariate weighted shuffle option I've been waiting for for years....

Technically that will work, but it still doesn't have the same functions as DJ had, like allowing guests to vote up songs using their phones or playing higher rated songs more often. But I'll guess this is what we got!

Nov 30, 2012 1:28 PM in response to Branden Williamsby Musicdeal,Either with an Ipad and the new remote version, if you have lot of songs remote crash and you can't have the list of the songs in remote.

Nov 30, 2012 2:01 PM in response to corsaby spocius,Did you consider updating your remote app before freaking out? Update the app, start music playing, select now playing and in the top left is a button that says ADD, works just like before, only you no longer need your itunes libriary to be running from DJ

Nov 30, 2012 2:12 PM in response to spociusby corsa, spocius, it's not the same thing. I understand Up Next allows you to add music to the queue from the remote app.
iTunes DJ allowed GUESTS to use the Remote on their own iOS devices to connect to your library, without giving them full control over the playlist, volume, etc.
They were able to "vote" for upcoming songs, and based on how many votes they received, they were moved higher up in the playlist. Guests could also "request" a song to be added to the playlist.
The new Remote 3.0 app still supports these features IF you are connected to iTunes 10, but not if you connect to iTunes 11. (I currently have one Mac running 10, one running 11.)
This video gives a very nice overview of how iTunes DJ worked in this "party" environment:
(The "guest" stuff starts at about 8:09 in the video, if you want to skip past the "host" iTunes DJ features.)

Exactly. So many people are turning up saying “but the up next feature does everything iTunes DJ did and simply replaced it” or offering silly workarounds.
They have no idea how brilliant and important iTunes DJ was.

Note to Apple: I won't upgrade iTunes until iTunes DJ comes back. I use it every day.

Nov 30, 2012 3:26 PM in response to gerbaudcorpby monavillach,One additional function I regularly used with iTunes DJ was to shift "Genius Mix" to this list .... not possible anymore, therefore NO simplicity,
and what really is bad, that there is no (simple) way to reinstall the pre-version
