Nov 29, 2012 12:42 PM in response to bkizeby binford2k,That doesn't randomly pick music for you......
It kind of does. That's sort of the purpose of a random mode.

Nov 29, 2012 12:45 PM in response to Branden Williamsby midiotlv,First they updated the AirPort Utility to make it look like iOS, and removed tons of functionality (profiles, client connection views, etc...)
Now, they update iTunes to look like iOS, and remove something as powerful as DJ. iTunes DJ was a HUGE part of the parties I throw (along with letting other iOS users vote on the next song). Up Next is not a sub for this (especially without the remote voting feature).
I really hope Apple reconsiders this ommission, and I hope (although foolishly, it appears) that they don't keep turning our Macs into desktop iPads.Another thing that I will really miss....the ability to open a playlist in a separate window (it made creating long playlists really easy as you could drag/drop from your main library window into the 2nd playlist window).

Nov 29, 2012 12:45 PM in response to binford2kby Branden Williams,No it doesn't. Two different issues:
- The random button you are highlighting will randomize a playlist (or arguably, an entire library if you do that).
- The iTunes DJ would essentially dynamically create a playlist that could be voted on by randomly selecting from a pre-determined list of songs that meet some kind of criteria—the simplest being pulling from a pre-defined playlist.

Nov 29, 2012 12:47 PM in response to Branden Williamsby midiotlv,P.S. Please use the feedback link in iTunes (although they don't even have version 11 in the itunes version list yet ) -- to let them know that DJ was useful (and multiple windows, for that matter).

Yes, please do! I just did!

You think wrong. I used it every day. As a matter of fact, it's the only way I used iTunes.
The random button you are highlighting will randomize a playlist (or arguably, an entire library if you do that).
Which is what the person I was responding to was complaining about.
The iTunes DJ would essentially dynamically create a playlist that could be voted on by randomly selecting from a pre-determined list of songs that meet some kind of criteria—the simplest being pulling from a pre-defined playlist.
Yup. So, play a playlist and select random. You're looking at a random selection of a pre-determined list of songs that meet some sort of criteria.
The thing that I don't know about, and can't comment on right now because I'm not on a network that I can connect my phone to a try, is voting by guests. Which you'll notice, I've said nothing about. But let's not let facts get in the way of a good flame, shall we?
In any case, considering how popular Remote has been, I doubt that they'll remove that particular feature. But that's just me being reasonable here, ya know. Much less fun than running around with pitchforks.
Have fun with that.

Noticing, as I said in another thread, that Apple hasn't even bothered to add iTunes 11 to the list of versions about which to give feedback.

Fair enough, I love a good flame as much as anyone else. But this feature is in fact missing

Nov 29, 2012 1:00 PM in response to binford2kby Runekib,The best part of iTunes DJ was that you could have songs with a high rating being played more frequently. This was my main way of playing music, and I have put quite a bit of effort into rating my music over these years.

True, but don't you think that in the months when it knows new products are coming it could notify people who maintain web pages? It sometimes takes months for the latest version to appear on feedback pages.

Nov 29, 2012 1:08 PM in response to Branden Williamsby gerbaudcorp,Seems like I've missed something. Sorry for blaming Apple, instead of digging a bit deeper in the new iTunes. I've found the features I was looking for! Great release, thanks...
