Right clicking a song? From any iPhone? I think you completely misunderstood what I was saying.
Guests would bring their iPhones, fire up remote and instantly start voting songs up and down as they were playing in iTunes DJ. THIS is the functionality that's missing. And it cannot be replaced with any other solution.

I agree, there's no need for multiple features doing the same thing.
The new Up Next is a nice playlist feature. All we need is having in the Shuffle Mode a "Party" that would allow people to remotely connect from other Mac or iOS Devices to be able to vote and add more song on this "Up Next" playlist. Voting would change the order of the songs.
I really miss this feature that could be very great during Party or if you share your iTunes at the office.
Also, I wish the Up Next Playlist would open like a Right Slide Bar (just like Genius did in iTunes 10). It would allow to keep this list open and browse the content in the same time.

I 200% agree... I only mentioned my own use, but the iTunes DJ is actually really great for so many other usage.
As said, it could be fixed and just be add on the new "Up Next" playlist. That's actually the purpose of this kind of playlist... I just don't get why they did remove the voting feature.

Shuffling and randomization are different things. The Shuffle button shuffles the playlist like a deck of cards and makes the tracks play back in the new order. iTunes DJ somewhat randomly (I don’t think it’s purely random) selects the next track to play, time after time. For a large music library, I prefer the latter mode, and I listen to my music using iTunes DJ almost exclusively.
People are saying a smart playlist with live updating and ‘select by: random’ does the trick, but I’ve asked a friend who’s already upgraded to test it, and apparently the playlist does not change when played with Repeat All, instead just repeating the same initially-randomly-chosen tracks ad infinitum.
He’s also [too lazy to post here but is] wondering how grouping by album artists can be switched on/off in the Artists view.

So help me here. I LOVED DJ. But if I choose a playlist that I want to shuffle (Theoretically I could not see what was coming next in the old days), but so now we can see the UP NEXT list? But with DJ we could see the next 100 songs in order. So I am assuming now, this is no longer possible. Just the few that show up in up Next?

So, we could then just add a "Party Mod" On/Off on the Controls menu, just under Shuffle and Repeat then...
That would allow people to connect and be able to change your playlist (add new song and vote for them, changing the order).
That would work too that way.
The "trick" is not to have the order changed randomly, but changed by the vote of people that would connect to iTunes with the Remote.

You can scroll on the Up Next playlist... No big deal then.
However, I do conceide the little "iOS" style pop-up scrolling bar is not the best design in that case. As said, I'd prefer to have this playlist on a right side bar that could slide on/off... But that's just my preferences

Yeah I always use DJ either for my playlists or sometimes for my entire library which has ablut 60,000 sings. She as you can imagive, its be fun with a large library like this. UP NEXT only shows a dozen or so future songs where DJ showed up to the next 100. And you could refresh!
I upgraded to 11 on my laptop but not yet on my main home music computer with all of the songs. What so see if I can do what I did before, before I turn it up to 11.

It is a very sad day. The favorite part of iTunes, iTunes DJ, is dead. It has been unceremoniously brought out back behind the shed and shot. Yes, UpNext has the randomness of iTunes DJ, but the voting ability is kaput.
Erik V stated everything I wanted to say. iTunes DJ with voting was a great party feature. Alas, it is no more.
Oh Steve, how we miss you.
