I can't understand why they would remove that. One of the biggest problems with iTunes is that it has various glitches that cause duplicates to appear. I was hoping that version 11 would have added features to manage this issue better.

My iTunes library, which contains over 8000 songs, has more than 2000 duplicates! I was slowly erasing them, 40 or 50 at a time. Now I have no way of isolating the duplicate files.

What they need to do is:

1. Display Duplicates (like in version 10)

2. Remove Duplicates (which would examine the 2 duplicate files for each song and remove one of them)

Also, I have some "Lost Files" which SOMETIMES showed (in version 10) and exclamation mark beside them. This indicated that the file used to be in the Library, but now it can't be found. They need to provide a way to

1. Dispay Lost Files

2. Find Lost Files (which allows the user to navigate to the folder that contains the missing files and then it should be able to search all the folders inside that one to find all the missing files that are in there)

Amazing. Apple has now created the equivalent to MS Bob. The new iTunes is the most amazing, gold-plated, piece of bad software engineering I have ever seen. Congratulations, Apple. You have exceeded what was at one time the absolute worst piece of software ever written. Way to go. Please tell me there is a way to get rid of this horrible example of bad software and return to a functional (at a minimum) version of iTunes.

Huh? If iTunes could find the missing file then it wouldn't be missing, right?

FYI, You get this error when a file is listed in one of the internal iTunes databases, but is not found in the library folders.

I just got off the phone with iTunes support and the option of "Display Duplicates" has been removed from iTunes 11.0. He also informed me that there is no supported way via them to revert to a previous iTunes version (i.e. 10.0+) but there may soon be someone on-line with an idea to do such or possibly there is one already from a previous change to iTunes. The disclaimer said only do I agree to terms, not what we are going to remove add in the new version. Don't ever upgrade?😕
