Deleting songs in iTunes 11
ITunes 11 updated my library and rechecked the songs I had unchecked. When I went to delete some songs, it wouldn't let me. I couldn't delete playlists or folders either. What gives?

i am having the same issue. i bought songs from the store and i have them in playlists i want but can't delete from from the purchased playlist. what gives??? i really dont want to hear christmas music all year on my purchased playlist.
It's very easy: just uncheck the song you do not want to listen
You can remove songs from your purchased list, I just tried
You can do whatever you like in your music library
Try to quit iTunes and restart it , maybe it's just the first time

Then don't play the purchased playlist.
Play the playlist you want.
I just deleted some duplicate songs using edit/delete in the Menu bar. Apple is making it a bit harder to navigate under the hood, but less mistakes will probably happen because of it.
Having problems with trying to delete music, old songs from 7th and 8th grade want them gone off my itunes, I don't want to see the songs on my itunes
Select Your Songs SHIFT+Right Click and Select Del 🙂 In Itune 11
Okay here is my issue, I added songs to itunes, and they do not show up in the recently added file, but I can search them and find them "technically" it shows me the files in the search dropdown, I then click on one of them which then sends me to the Artist tab for music. Where to my surprise ... I can not find it? I added a cd to my itunes that I want off, but I have no idea where Itunes has put it? Like I said it comes up in the search (dropdown menu) and I can even play the tracks from the search drop down; but I can not find the files to delete them? if I highlight the files in the search; edit menu will not let me delete, and control or option menu will not give me the option. I find this very frustrating; I am not a novice either! I have owned close too every ipod, and Iphone that has come out. I have Macbook pro (2012) Macbook (2009) and IMac (2011). So please feel free to enlighten me on what I am missing; beside the fact that Apple is pushing all the wrong buttons lately for really apple users ...
I did that...it dosent work.. i've tried clicking delete button but still dosent work...Well im on my ipodtouch music list .. and trying to delete a song
Select Your Songs SHIFT+Right Click and Select Del didn't work for me. Then I tried SHIFT+Right Click and Select SHIFT+Del and that worked. Thanks for putting me on right path. (Running Windows 7)
You can do it from a mac also, btw I have a macbook pro runing Mountain lion. You have to shift to take several songs or one and then press CTRL+Alt and Right click and choose delete and then
Voila Job done
Hope that helped 😀
Pain in the ar*e that itunes make you guess what to do do to manage files every time you download an upgrade.
select the song, hold down shuft key then either press delete on key pad or right click and select delete. I'm not sure how you supposed to know that pressing shift brings back the delete option when right clicking. There goes another hour of my life to swearing at apple.
The correct key combination is actually Option+Right Click. Keep Option held after you right click and until AFTER you select Delete from the context menu. That will bring up the correct dialog(s) allowing you to delete the library entry as well as the song file, if needed/wanted.
Anything else may not work right, so the solution identified here may NOT work in all instances. Try the noted solution and if that doesn't work (the Delete option was greyed out for me...), then this might.
I think I've tried every single key combination listed above, and cannot delete tracks that, by the way, should not have been transfered to my iPod Shuffle in the first place. I'm beginning to understand why people are ******. I have selected one play list to be transferred over, but iTunes, in it's infinite wisdom, is choosing to ignore that.
Like all the other suggestions above, this just brings up a menu with no DELETE option.
