can screenshare but cannot connect to server thru finder sidebar

I can screenshare our 10.8 server but cannot connect to the server thru finder sidebar, it says connection failed.

I see our-server in the sidebar and when I select it, it just says connection failed...

I CAN select screenshare and it connects just fine with my username and password...

ALSO, I CAN get to it by its ip address 10.0.1.8 and i can file share that way, just not by connecting thru the sidebar...

here are some log hints:

Hi,

I don't use any on my three Macs as Servers.

However in the Client OS in System Preferences > Sharing > File Sharing I have the SMB windows share format enabled in Options.

This makes me wonder whether this is true of your Server as sometimes my Macs appear as both SMB and AFP shares in the Side bar.

In fact my NAS drive is set to Bonjour as well as SMB and Shows twice more regularly.

(not to mention it's Time Machine partition).

You can Right Click them for "Get Info" which will tell which they are.
