How to downgrade iTunes 11 to previous version 10.7

Software update just installed the new iTunes 11, and it really blows. I want to downgrade back to version 10.7 (where the organization made a lot more sense). How do I downgrade, since all the links I've found for 10.7 take you to the iTunes 11 download page?

Here's what I got going on.

I updated to itunes 11.0.2 today, after delaying it for a looong time (I have it @ work and don't like the new layout).

Since then, none of my ipods will mount/show up/update. I've tried all USB ports, 3 ipods, 3 cords. Wondering if you know of any issues. I've restarted the mac about 15-20 times today since as soon as I hook up an ipod, itunes immediately spins the beach ball and won't let me click out of it.

I've restarted the ipods 10+ times each.

All of the ipods DO show up on my desktop though. Just not in itunes anywhere with 11.0.2.

One more thing: It's not the cables or the ipods: they both mount fine when connected to my laptop (running old *** 10.4.11 and itunes 9.)

I read thru all of these posts, and followed the instructions on dropping itunes 11.0..2.26, and reinstalling good old 10.7. Worked like a champ, easy to do. 10.7 is back like it was before.

STILL won't mount either ipod (a new 160GB Classic and a 5th gen video) at all though. Never had a problem with either of them until I downloaded itunes 11.0.2.26.

I still have my main home Mac not able to share broadcasts from my MacBook, or download anything of my purchases.

After the amount of time wasted and data lost on the iTunes 11 upgrade, only to see a flat, ugly interface with ARIAL on the Mac (really, WHY?), flat button graphics that no longer look like buttons, the loss of not only the podcasts, but the metadata for 6 thousand podcasts, I'm never installing another Mac update again until other users prove it is safe.

Apple has lost my trust that it has built since 1985 with this and the iOSification of the Mac OS.

Once bitten. Never again. My time is worth too much to justify running the risk of trusting another Apple update after this experience.

One idea is to install Xcode (4.2) and see if it recognizes your devices from the Organizer window. You could also check the Console log (it's in Utilities) when you plug in your devices to see if anything appears.

I'd just like to get 10.7 properly reinstalled on my home 27 inch iMac so that I can share music between Macs without the error showing up, but I'll be ****** if I waste any more time on this.

Got details on how to install/where to get Xcode? Never hear dof it. Is it 3rd party or native OSX?

I'll check the console log....and if nothing appears, then what?

Xcode is what Apple developers use to create iOS and Mac OS apps. There may be a free version out there for people who are not registered developers.

Try http://developer.apple.com

If you are prompted to update the OS on your iOS devices, DO NOT DO IT, because you can not set them back.

No idea what you might see in the console, but it's the only place I could think of to look.

If anyone's still looking at the thread, I could use a little help...I'm obviously missing something here.

So, I was able to Downgrade back to 10.7 using the Pacifist/AppZapper method. Everything went fine, but when I opened up the new (old) version of iTunes, it said that the Library file was made with a newer version of iTunes, and it wouldn't open. So I went ahead with instructions and replaced the current .itl file with the latest version from my Previous iTunes Libraries, but that didn't work. So I used the next oldest version, which allowed iTunes to open.

Problem: None of my recent playlists or music were included in this version. I don't want to have to recreate all those playlists and re-import all the music, or do I have to do that?

Suggestions please?

Thanks,

Mark
