    Yes it does works so far as I have just reverted back to 10.7. Signed in to iTunes Store without a problem. Put my iphone 5 and sync without problem. Thanks.

    I also have this funny "an unknown error occured (-42408)." message after downgrading from itunes 11 to 10.7.

    The worst thing is that my ipod shows up everywhere else, but not in itunes?!

     

    Any suggestions?? Would help a lot. I don't want to restore it with Disk Utility, as I still hope the ratings and 'last played" dates of the whole last week and a lot of new music played won't get lost.

     

    I already tried a lot of things, mentioned in other posts concerning error -42408, but not really for the ipod not being detected on my Mac itunes.

     

    I'm running ML with 10.7. itunes. Logging on to the itunes store works, but trying to "authorize this computer" with the same acount, won't work with a similar error code and a slightly different message....

     

    Any suggestions are well appreciated. Tx in advance!

    Finally I contacted Apple Support Germany: I had a VERY VERY VERY GOOD Support specialist and had to do a FULL clean reinstall (through the web), after trying a lot of other tricks before.

    So glad, that this beautiful system keeps ALL SETTINGS and preferences! Hats off!!!

     

    So with the clean ML 10.8.2 install, itunes 10.6.3. comes with and I could just install 10.7. right away.

    THIS SOLVED everything!

    However, I will recheck thoroughly a hundred times before updating/upgrading ANY Apple Standard Software in future, specifically NOT iTunes This cost me a lot of time and nerves.

    So glad, that I did NOT have to restore my iPod, so that all last played dates and counts are being updated, as it should be.

     

    Glad, that I'm still wihtin my iMac warranty period.

    I hate the itunes 11.....my main issue is the search function no longer works.

     

    In the old version if I wanted to find My Funny Valentine...I could put...."Valentine Funny My" in any order and it would find a all...I mean all referneces and songs that had those words...

    The new just blanks out unless the words are exactly...."My Funny valentine".....That is awful

     

    Apple what the heck are you doing???????

    Here is the list of complaints I sent to apple feedback regarding iTunes 11, I'm afraid the list will grow as I use it more:

     

     

    I HATE the lack of the album artwork in the bottom left corner of the library pane/sidebar!

    Preferred it being there as it was in previous versions!

    Also HATE the lack of “Display Duplicates” feature, and the iCloud stuff screws up song counts in the Smart Playlists, and it doesn't seem to be possible to edit that feature out.

    Classic example of fixing something that wasn't broken.

    Worst Apple 'update' EVER!

    I hate the new iTunes, Apple managed to "dumb" the software down so much it is barely usable!!!!  Can't show duplicates, Genius can't show a detailed list view, and the currently playing list is only in a popup: ***!!!

    anyhow: I followed the instructions on that link and it solved my issues....

     

    I had replaced all files during the reinstall of itunes 10.7

     

    I pray that apple figures out how insulting the itunes 11 is to any customer with 2 brain cells and restore all advanced functionality and let us decide on how the interface should look like.....arghh...what a headache

    Sadly, it appears to me that the ITunes team members are either – struggling to justify their jobs, are slow learners, incompetent, or simply arrogant.  However, in fairness, I can just as easily envision a team of individuals putting their heads together to move the iTunes vision forward; and to introduce new and innovative ideas for the consumer. 

     

    Nonetheless, input from the end user should be considered long before the product leaves design. Instead, the experience Apple consumers often endure is a corporate model that:

     

    Repeatedly charges ahead blindly with their products (read slow learners,)

     

    Insults and annoys their base by ignoring their voices (read arrogance,) and

     

    Waste time and good will cleaning up their messes after the disaster (read incompetent.)   

     

    I hope I’m wrong about my perception; but I don’t know what else to think.

     

    Apple marketing... this latest debacle was really bad ––

     

    Can you hear us?  Are you listening?  Do you care?  SAY something...

    They have always been like this.

     

    The best spotlight search interface was in Tiger. The folloiwng one may have had cover flow (cute but useless feature) but no size, colour or other eally useful features.

     

    I have 850,000 images across several disks, many of them duplicates at different sizes, and it was impossible to differentiate between them,

     

    Also it would only like in a specific folder or everything, whereas Tiger you could look in as many separate locations as one wanted - excluding the rest.

     

    Thankfully, they have brought most of it back after several years, with the exception of separate locations.

     

    Maybe they will bring some of the useful features back into iTunes. But for the moment it looks like they hired a bunch or retards away from Microsoft.

     

    PS I also miss the coloured folders in the sidebar of finder.

    Hey, here in indonesia have not Apple support customer service to help. Could u give me tutorial detail how to downgrade iTunes 11 to iTunes 10.7 on Mac.

     

    Also or screen saver artwork are missing and doesn't work anymore after i upgraded to iTunes 11. what a s*cksss..

    I had a visceral reaction of extreme loathing to iTunes 11. It is hideous. I felt like I was being burned alive.

     

    I run 3 separate OS partitions, addressing a single iTunes library. Of course, 11 broke that, not just for Lion, but for the earlier versions of the OS. I was able to restore the library from a CCC back-up, but was baffled about reverting. I'm confident, after reading this discussion, that I'll be able to do that.

     

    OMG, what were they thinking? Make the MacOS version look like the iOS version? Really?

     

    I phoned Apple Tech support this afternoon, prepared to pay for the session, and was told that iTunes upgrade problems were exceptioned, so no charge. I gave a robust accounting of my reaction to the screw-up, and the advanced tech support rep encouraged me to send my reaction to Apple.

    last steps kinda confused me (most likely because I'm doing this at 4 in the morning) but after reading it a couple of times I managed to figure it out!

     

    I didn't have to re-import any of my my music and all my playlists were saved!
