Q: How to downgrade iTunes 11 to previous version 10.7

Software update just installed the new iTunes 11, and it really blows.  I want to downgrade back to version 10.7 (where the organization made a lot more sense).  How do I downgrade, since all the links I've found for 10.7 take you to the iTunes 11 download page?

Finally All done by these short step:

    1. Uninstalling the iTunes 11 and restart the computer then..

    2. Download iTunes 10.7 and pacifist

    3. Open the 10.7 dmg file, you will see the pkg file(usally double click to install), but this time drag it out somewhere. (Example on desktop folder)

    4. Launch pacifist

5 Drag the pkg file to pacifist and the click install from the menu bar. (during installation, click replace everytime a window popping out (this is the key i reckon, something that can't be removed during uninstallation will be replaced by 10.7 completely thanks to pacifist)

    6. Go to folder Music --> Itunes then change the name of "iTunes Library.itl" to be "iTunes Library.itl.old" then copy the lates date of "iTunes Library.itl" from Previous Itunes Libraries (for example: iTunes Library 2012-12-04.itl) copy to iTunes Folder and change it again become "iTunes Library.itl"

Those step are perfect and all done for me.

    Good luck!!

Why can't you just copy library to external, delete all itunes files completly, download itunes 10.7 then drop library from external back in? Wouldn't this be the quickest and easiest way?

Thank you ever so much.I managed to expergate the new version with your help!

iTunes 11 should be renamed iTunes 666 and should be vaporized.  It seems only an enhancment to the Kingdom's iTunes Store sales.

Yippee Skippy! Got iTunes 10.7 back on my iMac and was able to retrieve the iTunes library from TimeMachine. Thanks everyone here for all the help. May iTunes11 go back to where the sun don't shine and never resurface again!

I did the exact same thing in those steps. But for some reason, when I go to open Itunes, it says that the file couldn't be read, and asks me to update to the new version again. Any suggestions?

I know this is sort of not related, but really worth mensioning, since I am starting to see a trend... Sorry in advance if you dont agree with me - this is just my opinion... so here we go :

Yes - iTunes 11 DOES "blow".. When you search for a song that you know you have, it doesnt show all of them. When you search for an artist, it doesnt show all the songs that you have,,, (I think it favors iTunes bought music) etc.. etc.. etc.. you are all right...

I hate to say it, becuase I love apple, but what the **** is an iPad Mini and why would I want one??? Get a real iPad... and I am VERY disapointed with the much anticipated iPhone 5!

AGAIN - Let me just say - I love apple. I own an iMac, MacBook Pro 17, MacBook, Apple TV, iPhone 5 and have owned the iPhone 4, iPhone 3 and the original iPhone.... So iPhone 5 got a wee bigger screen and the ability to do pano-camera. (incidently, you can do this with iPhone 4s if you upgrade your IOS).. you get the picture.... I really expected more from iPhone 5... I have to say, I dont like droid phones, but the galaxy has a serious screen! (but a crappy OS.) Give me a freaking sreen! Thats all I want.. All the other phones suck! They really do!

I Liked the idea of turning the iPod Nano into a watch.. So much you can do with that! wifi it to you iPhone's internet hot spt and you got a social medial device on the fly! or email of anything... Cant do that anymore, because they have replaced the nano with a bigger nano. (not quite a nano - they should call the shuffle a nano.. or get rid of the shuffle and reintroduce the last nano)..

I guess my frustration is the lack of "Thoughtless Use".. Its disappearing in place of making money...

That makes me sad... Dont become Microsoft.

I've been using Mac's since the mid 80's because they worked.... mostly for me and my research....

Things are now in a different realm... self promotion.......

    Sad.

You hit the nail on the head with the self promotion. unfortunate we have to keep up with this for work. Im actually starting to hate computers.

I really need to downgrade because I use DJ software for a gig next weekend, and the stuff I just ripped to iTunes isn't showing up in the iTunes Library... And neither is it showing up in the DJ software. So I think I am screwed unless I downgrade.

Problem is I don't backup my System files to Time Machine, so I don't have access to those Framework files. Is there some other way I can get hold of them?

I'm a bit desperate here, so I'd be grateful for any help you can give. Thanks!
