Dec 13, 2012 1:36 PM in response to MoSchloby Manfred34,Ok, so I took the leap and went ahead and restore 10.7, which worked splendidly... I used the instructions from the MacWorld site. All went off without a hitch.... EXCEPT, that now when i try to return my iTunes Media folder that i saved to my external drive, i consistently get a message saying there isn't enough space on my HD to complete the copy. Also get the same message when i try to restore that same folder using Time Machine. I know that there is enough space on my HD, and i have even deleted some other large files that were taking up a fair amount of space, so there is more space available than the size of the folder. Do not quite understand why i can't move that file back, when it has not changed in size and there is MORE space available on my HD than i need.... HELP!!

Dec 13, 2012 1:41 PM in response to MoSchloby DogDeeman,The old version should be in your downloads folder in the HD, just search for 10.7 and reinstall, thats what I did.

Dec 13, 2012 1:50 PM in response to Manfred34by L.Walker, try this, go into your iTunes folder and find the most recent iTunes library pre update that you can. copy it to the iTunes folder in the Music folder. hold down the option key and double click the iTUnes icon in your dock. this should give you the option to choose a library. simply choose the library you have just copied and it should work. thats what I did, iTunes 10.7 is now working like a treat, unfortunately it won't talk to my iPhone because I foolishly synced it with 11...so that's a hill I may have to die on. but if you haven't made the same mistake you should be fine

Dec 13, 2012 2:04 PM in response to DogDeemanby Manfred34,Thanks DogD, gonna try a reinstall of 10.7 and then if not, gonna try what L.Walker suggested... Thanks for the replies and will repost my results... L.Walker, I don't have an iPhone, but i do have an iPod Touch that I have synched to 11... is that going to be a problem then? I hope not...

Dec 13, 2012 5:25 PM in response to Manfred34by L.Walker,it likely will be a problem, as it's going to look for the new iTunes. if you have backed up your ipod recently then there is a way to restore it described somewhere in this article.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808?viewlocale=en_US
unfortunately I am an idiot and have never conciously backed up my phone, so there is no way back for me, which *************. but since i don't need to sync it in the near future and having the old is currently keeping me calm in the last throes of grad school....I am willing to live this way for now.

Dec 13, 2012 2:24 PM in response to L.Walkerby Manfred34,Sonufab****... I don't know that i have ever backed up my iPod either.... I also have an iPod Classic, but I don't use that one much and I don't think I have synced it with 11, fortunately. I will have to look to see if i do have a backup somewhere, but probably not though. I have to agree. Good luck with grad school!!

Dec 13, 2012 6:39 PM in response to Manfred34by Manfred34,Sorry L.Walker... they had edited my previous post about the fact that not backing up your iPhone seriously created a vacuum, which they took out of my post, but left in yours and I made a comment to that effect(which they removed) and lo and behold, they edited your post as well... Can't put anything past these guys!! We'll see how this post fares as well against the moderators...

Dec 13, 2012 6:41 PM in response to Manfred34by Manfred34,Also, in regards to my issue returning my Music folder back into iTunes.... I reinstalled 10.7, then restarted my mac for good measure. Still got the same error messages regarding space available on my HD, which i still don't quite understand.... when the iTunes Media folder is 157 some-odd gigs and the space available is over 190 gigs, why it won't copy the files is beyond me! Must be something i am missing i guess... Anyways, i simply started to copy each individual folder back over to my HD, i.e. Downloads, Books, Movies, etc... which all copied fine, but when i try to copy the big enchilada, i.e. my Music folder, it eventually tells me there is still not enough space. So, i am letting it transfer what it THINKS it can fit and then i may just go back and continue to add the remaining folders at few at a time, or even one at a time i guess. They all have to fit- they fit before i moved them, and i even created more space on my HD now, so they surely should fit now. Well, that's my contribution to this thread... TIFWIW!

Dec 13, 2012 7:58 PM in response to MoSchloby a guy in boston,Thanks to everyone who put instructions in this thread. I downloaded iTunes 11 a couple of days ago and, well, it was shockingly awful for me. I gave it a fair shake, but the Album view that I rely on disappeared, and I had little to no control over how to list files in other views. I found it frustrating, even painful, to use iTunes 11. This is the first time in years that I've had to downgrade to an older version of Apple software. Thanks to this thread, I was able to successfully downgrade to iTunes 10.7!

Dec 14, 2012 7:45 AM in response to L.Walkerby Manfred34,Yup, no kidding! The last post i made after yours i even used Equus africanus asinus, which they removed... not quite sure why.... Anyways, sorta sidetracking this thread.... Added half of my music folder to iTunes and now adding the other half... So far, so good. And it seems as though probably 95+% of my album artwork is intact... I think maybe some of my music might be missing, i.e. just a few songs here and there, but have that backed up on my ex HD so, shouldn't be a problem. Just happy that all the info and artwork is there. Thanks to those that contributed to this thread!
