Jan 13, 2013 7:45 AM in response to Just1nd20by chris catalano,Well, seeing how the original post is over a month old I'd say you can forget about Apple fixing this. Once they decide on an interface change they never go back. Exhibit A; the way they change autofill on Safari a few releases ago. Its the worst implementation imaginable and everyone complained, but they did nothing about it. They'd rather have people b*tching about it than admit they messed up. Doesn't matter, they'll keep selling iPhones and iPads, which is all they care about. Keep drinking the iKool-Aid people!

Jan 14, 2013 11:50 AM in response to chris catalanoby lberelson,As an ORIGINAL apple user and advocate (since 1985 ok??) I am on the verge of jumping ship due to this kind of nonsense. They're getting a microsoft like quality about them. And YES!! You're right. It's all about their iPads and iPhones (the latter of which has given me nothing but agita for over a year). Of course, i have an axe to bury as i did buy Apple at $12/share and sold at $70!! DUH right before they launched the first iPod.

Jan 14, 2013 12:03 PM in response to lberelsonby chris catalano,I'm going to try reporting it as a bug and see what happens. But I've been a user since 1987, not quite as long as you, but long enough to see trends and patterns in their development behaviour. I think the reversal on the Maps debacle is the last time you'll see them 'correct' for a poor design decision. It must have pained them soooo much to reverse course on that.

Jan 23, 2013 7:10 AM in response to Just1nd20by oskar101,Completely useless not having these columns to the side.
I reverted back to Itunes 10.7 (with some error messages and challenges).

Jan 30, 2013 11:26 AM in response to Just1nd20by chewie7213,This feature was the reason I finally caved and transferred my entire .wma library to iTunes years ago.
It's so much more laborious using the top column browser.
Please bring back the side column browser!

Jan 30, 2013 11:39 AM in response to chewie7213by RollTheBeats,I agree the side column browser was one of the main reasons I was happy to move from Winamp to iTunes when I bought my iPhone. The column browser on top is such a waste of space and so inefficient. On my work PC I made the mistake of 'upgrading' to iTunes 11 and it's a pig to use, on my home PC I've kept 10.7 and in comparison it's so intuitive and simple.
I do like the up next feature on 11 but apart from that I can't think of a single reason to upgrade. I'll be sticking with 10.7 until they bring back the left side column browser and the option to browse iOS devices using the column browser.

The vertical column browser on the left is a must have for me at this point. The nifty filtration effect, and seeing full top-to-bottom lists is SO much easier to nail what you’re looking for, and to have perspective of all that there is in your DB for a given criteria – I tried to get used to the new view, but it’s like my thumb is missing. I just downloaded 10.7 and will go with that for now.
However, I HUMBLY make the request to the iTunes product manager; I am not indignant and faux-desperate like so many above for an app that I enjoy FREE, and when there is a solution by simply reinstalling an older version.

Feb 9, 2013 12:07 PM in response to Just1nd20by danwillo, personally i have always liked the browser on the top, ive got over 25,000 songs and have always had it on the top as i like to see my album artwork all the time on the left hand side and find it easy to view what i want. i had mine set to the first 4 rows but if i wanted to play say u2 then i would just click on either compilations or ac/dc for example then just type u and it goes straight to where i want to be.
i had to upgrade because my iphone needed it to but if it wasnt for that i'd downgrade to 10.7 straight away. i cant see why apple just cant let people make thier own minds up about how they like the set up and then its everybodys own personal choice.
now i have mine set on songs so browser is on top but now i dont have the album artwork option and a big blank space to the right hand side which is annoying the **** out of me.

Feb 20, 2013 7:47 AM in response to Just1nd20by ethan254,Oh god...you can't change this?! WHY DID I UPGRADE?!
As a workaround Foobar2000 will let you have a left-side column browser.
