I have recenlt downloaded the combo updater to my computer fix a safari bug. It has now deleted my reading list and all of its contents. How do I get everything back that was saved to it? I have a macbook and I am running on Snow Leopard.
Copy the text on the line below to the clipboard, then quit Safari:
~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
Select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the Finder menu bar. Paste into the text box that opens, then press return.
A folder window will open with a file selected. Restore the selected file from a backup that was made before the unwanted changes took place.
It says this file cannot be found. Is there another way?
Navigate in the Finder to the Library folder of your home folder (represent by a house icon in the sidebar of a window.) Then open the Safari subfolder of that. The file should be in there.
I am sad to say it is not there either....
Launch the Terminal application in either of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then drag or copy the text — do not type it — into the Terminal window and press return:
ls -Oel ~/Library/Safari
