Q: iTunes 11: No more album art preview for selected track??? :(

It's alright for people to vent about what they don't like about the software.  And I think it's ok to offer suggestions to try and help.  But I think we all realize that this is not going anywhere as long as Apple doesn't address the concerns of many.

The problems that people have addressed include...

1.  No album art in the lower left.

2.  No cover flow.

3.  No multiple windows.

I know there are others...but these are the main ones at present.  And as far as I can tell...there are no solid fixes for these.  Obviously cover flow and multiple windows are things you can't "fake".  As far as album art...there seems to be something you can do...but it is not the magic bullet.

For now, it is what it is.  You can either roll with itunes 11 and hang in with it until updates surface, or do like myself and others have done and revert back to 10.7 or earlier.  These seem to be the only options until we hear from Apple.

I have a question, and I apologize to the person that I'm replying to because this post is irrelevant to what they just posted. I am about to buy a new MacBook Pro in a couple of days and I'm wondering if iTunes 10 comes preloaded with it or if it is in fact, iTunes 11. I was also wondering if I can degrade from iTunes 11 to 10 using the AppZapper + Pacifist method on this new one if it comes preloaded with iTunes 11.

am i missing something here?  ive not read the many hundreds of posts, but most ae complaing about disappearace of artwork it seems

but surely you just click on the ARTISTS view option and you get the  list of artists down left hand side, along with album cover of first album for that artist. but the main screen view gives the individual album art

so i quite like the new layout, plus have option to view as SONG shown list by  artist/album/song (but no artwork) or view by ARTIST which is  like a much better coverflow 

can do GENRES too provided you kept everything tagged (i dont need genres)

its also nice to have playlists at the top too in its own section

but my reason for coming onto the site was to look for answers to why my memory is suddenly getting eaten up SINCE installing itunes 11. some people say its fixed their memory leak, but for me its started

but i see coverview  was believed to have caused the memory getting eaten up

well, if users now on 11 are using just the SONGS view, with no pictures, maybe thats why no longer a leak

in my case i never used coverflow,before, but now mainly use the ARTISTS view, which contains a lot more artwork on the screen than my old view, so im guessing thats why im getting problems

i currently have 6gb ram i on windows 7     when i start itunes with no other applications running, it shoes memory used at 1.48gb. . i have approx 20gb of music in itunes

it takes about 6 hours for it to take up all my free memory and give the warning message. turning off itunes will not free up memmory, only a restart

i did spot the ability to resize the artwork for each album (it was set by default to max) so im going to reduce to half and see if it extends the time it takes to use up memory

im no it expert, so any extra help would be great, but a pity APPLE doesnt sort this as its been running for YEARS from what i can see.

Why don't you make a new thread instead of derailing this one further with an unrelated issue.  Read the topic of this thread. 

And you answered your own question about album artwork.  Many of us need to use song view because it's the only view that lets you organize the music with categories, and view information.  And there is no longer album artowrk where there used to be an option to have it.  And it let you display it much bigger than any of the current views.  And I don't care about custom background color if it fades out all the edges of the album art so you can't see it.  This is ART.  That view ruins the artwork.  Reminds me of the heavy handed framers who ruin works of art with crazy colors and big ugly frames.

i commented that the artwork is still available. the postings i saw seemed oblivious that any views with artwork were available, so my comments in their case are valid

i dont know if i answered my own question, its only a theory.

i havent posted before so dont know protocols............just tryng to get answers

and the artwork and memory issues are directly related it seems so probably of interest to some people reading this 'thread'

Maybe you should re-read my post.  I explained what you still don't seem to understand about the missing album artwork.

Can I ask a ?  Why is this forum still up if there is no answer???  Apple obviously took it away and there is no way t get it back.. and we are not allowed to talk about different issues so why has it continued?  I've been yelled at for offering work arounds that do not address the issue... So, I am so confused as to why APPLE has not closed this to additional comments?

The bigger question is why are you still posting here if you

- Aren't even bothered by the problems being discussed here

What exactly makes you want to keep posting? 

I'm here because I'm bothered and affected by the removal of album artwork, and I think discussing that is beneficial for me and for many other customers.

because I am hoping someone will point out something I am not aware of that may make my i-tunes experience more enjoyable.  Does that answer your question? If you are so bothered by the changes you would better serve the issue by using the feedback link. Discussing that is beneficial to you?? ... I think you mean engaging in conflict and acting like a school yard bully is more like it!
