My new iphone 5 was just unlocked from telstra and now won't recognize my sim, just says SOS only??

I bought an iphone 5 off a lady yesterday brand new in the box. It was locked to telstra so this morning i rung up and had it unlocked. Itunes sent the congradulations your phone is now unlocked message, and my phone gave me the option to update carrier settings, i clicked agree.

I've put my virgin mobile sim in and all it says is "SOS only' .
