Cannot configure AP Express

AirPort Utility 5.6 can be installed on your Mac running the 10.7.5 operating system.

If you check carefully, you will likely find that you have been trying to install AirPort Utility 5.6.1, which will only run on Snow Leopard Macs, not Lion.

Give this version of AirPort Utility 5.6 for Lion a try...and please report on your results:

My situation is slightly different. I have Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.2 installed with a 4-year old Airport Express base station.

Airport Utility 6.1 does not support this base station and neither Utility 5.6.or 5.6.1 will install in OSX 10.8.2.

I assume my only solution is to buy a new Airport Express 😟.

This is not supported by Apple, so your decision on whether you want to try this or not.
