Q: What are your thoughts on the New iTunes 11?

I for one am not very impressed! You lose cover flow, and the ability to resize your album art. Unlike previous versions where everything is not in just one area now your searching over the whole itunes for what you need to do. Its cluttered and instead of just editing one album your stuck at looking at all the other distractions instead of what your trying to edit. What are all of your thoughts on this new itunes?

Not "very impressed"? That's putting it mildly! The newest version of iTunes is AWFUL!!! ITunes has always been Apple's weakest link, but THIS is beyond abysmal. If Apple knows what's good for them, they'd better start responding do users' discontent thoroughly and FAST!

I was willing to accept the new iTunes 11 as "progress", but like many others. I'm also having a problem. I was trying to import (add to library) some old home videos that I converted to MP4, but the new iTunes 11 simply won't import them.

I understand there's a learning curve to adapt to the new interface, but something as simple (supposedly) as adding a new, personally-owned, personally-filmed video in MP4 format shouldn't be an issue any more. I'm going to assume that Apple IS listening and is already hard at work trying to fix this (and other) problem.

I'm finding iTunes 11 is slower than previous versions, particularly searching. Any advice?

I am wondering if iTunes is becoming more focused on "purchased" files, and that this has made support for "home-made" files buggier.

I am having problems similar to yours, david.allie, but instead of video, I am trying to import -.wav files that I created myself. Normally I would just add the -.wav files to my library, but now with iTunes11 they don't appear in my music library. Strangely enough, if I look in my "Recently added" smart playlist, the new -.wav files are there. But if I look in the main "Music" library, there are not listed. I even sorted all my music files to see if I could find the new files by -.wav type. Again, they were not to be found in the "Music" library.

So I returned to the "Recently Added" smart playlist. I converted the -.wav files listed there to Apple Lossless. It was only then that the files were listed in the "Music" library.

    Very strange.

i cannot agree more i think apple should think twice and rethink this disaster that seems to be called an upgrade . it looks like it is more of a downdrade to me. bring back the coverflow and sort out the ipod/iphone/ipad search system ; it doesn't work at all anymore

Since installing iTunes 11, now every ******* song skips like it's a damaged CD. What the **** is going on at Apple?

Can you tell me how you convert files to apple lossless? Thanks so much!

Apple has been doing stuff like this for years. I left their ecosystem in favor of Android. Apple will update (downgrade) software and you'll lose features. It is they way they have done things for at least 5 years. I think the Galaxy Class phones have a better OS. iPhones were the 1st smartphone for lots of people but when people look-around they will figure out iPhones are dumbed down, bland, stale. iOS is for really really really old people and very young children who know nothing about internet devices. apple products are not cool, they are a low-class company. I am a young guy and apple seems to fit nicely with the elderly. Once people try out a good android phone (nexus) they will hate not moving on sooner.

Just to PROVE that Apple has lost it. And I can say... I have an Apple EVERYTHING and have supported them since I've been into tech.....

In the new MESS calling itself iTunes 11.... When in GENRES, the list has COUNTRY spelled wrong..... HA HA HA HA .... just proves they are not paying attention.

    iTunes 11 spells country...."COUNTTY".

    Proof Of The Pudding.

    Apple has lost it.

They are not paying attention to spelling NOR to us. Duh.gif

Just out of curiosity, if you dislike Apple so much and no longer buy their products, what are you doing in their forum in the first place?

I'm sure you're just trying to be honest and have no ill-intent, but I hope you realize that claiming to really dislike Apple and pushing Android devices so strongly makes concluding that you're a Troll a very reasonable conclusion.

No it doesn't, at least not on mine. My Genres menu doesn't even have shouty selections. I don't think any proof is there at all.

I absolutely HATE, H A T E, H A T E this new iTunes! Are Apple **** bent on us eventually losing our album art all together? Every incarnation of iTunes seems to offer smaller and smaller album artwork!! WHY!!? I want some nice colourful albums to look at, not a list with a postage stamp sized thumbnail next to it or a thumbnail in grid view (which I also detest anyway).

I have posted about this before but it seems now Apple is such a monolithic corporate giant it just doesn't listen to customers any more. Shame. Maybe next time I'll have a look and see what the competition are offering.

PLEASE GIVE US SOME DECENT ARTWORK VIEW APPLE!!! Something tells me Apple just ain't listening!

Yes, well if your only need is for a phone, we'll leave that decision up to you. I'm not interested in phones but I would like my desktop not to be debased by Apple seeking to lower the playing field to only what is possible on a phone or tablet which is where it seems recent changes are going.
