Q: What are your thoughts on the New iTunes 11?

I for one am not very impressed! You lose cover flow, and the ability to resize your album art. Unlike previous versions where everything is not in just one area now your searching over the whole itunes for what you need to do. Its cluttered and instead of just editing one album your stuck at looking at all the other distractions instead of what your trying to edit. What are all of your thoughts on this new itunes?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion, i7 16gb ram

Heh, iTunes 11 isn't even listed there on the feedback form, yet. Typical. And all Apple has to do to fix this mess is go back to iTunes 10.7 while they work on squashing iTunes 11 bugs and making the earlier UI and option in 11. But that would require an admission that 11's UI is sub-standard, to say the least...

It's one thing to say it works well for you.

It's quite another to malign folks who disagree with you.

For instance, I never liked or used cover flow. (I don't like it in Safari history, either.) But i would never suggest that the folks here who loved it or found it useful are whiners, or making something out of nothing. To them, it was important, and to attack them personally for seeing this little part of the world differently than you do seems kinda mean and unnecessary...

Me, I CONSTANTLY had multiple playlists open in addition to the main itunes screen. I resized windows and set them up like tiles so I always knew what window was where and could generally click on whatever one I needed. And if a playlist window was buried, the "windows" menu became a bookmark list. With multiple windows I could play one playlist while searching or updating another. I could compare lists, and therefore evaluate smartlist search rules. I could highlight a song that i was tagging in one list, go to another list (or several others), and still have that song highlighted when I came back to it...even if it was days later.

Now from what i can tell from reading through these threads, very few people used the ability to have multiple playlists open. But there were a few of us-- (mostly large-library anal power users, from what i've read--my itunes library is a few gigs shy of filling an external terabyte drive. The fact that I know I will never ever finish adding artwork, and properly tagging genres and smart list keywords (in the groups field) in no way eliminates my desire to try.) --and there's no reason to suggest that there's something wrong with us because you (or for that matter, "most users") didn't use the features and functions of itunes up through 10.7 the same way we did. And you ought not be so dismissive of folks not like you...

And besides all that... I just think Apple has always been a computer that folks can spread out with and use in their own way... Multiple applications and windows are at the heart of that, and turning itunes into a one size fits all, only one way to play, goes against what Apple has always meant to me... YMMV... But if it does, Bop, I'm not so sure i want you to tell me... ("If you can't say somethin' nice...")

Great. I just deleted that POS version and I reinstalled 10.7, but now itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes.

Why did apple have to release a Windows Vista version of itunes ?!!!

I think i read somewhere that the upgrade saves the .itl file you need in a "previous libraries" folder before updating. (I'm sorry i upgraded, but afraid to try to go back, myself...but some folks say it is possible.)

Doublecheck what i said -- always good advice when taking tips from a stranger on the innernets -- and I hope it works...

Why did apple have to release a Windows Vista version of itunes ?!!!

Because the company is now run by a bunch of apparatchiks who don't focus on the product anymore. The short term share price performance has become more important.

After all, there was absolutely no reason to push out iTunes 11 - they could have waited until next summer to get it right. But it doesn't please the markets if you delay and don't continually ship stuff. Whether you sell cr@p doesn't matter in the short term...

itunes 11 is the worst Mac/Apple experience I have had. It is reason I got rid of my PC. What would Steve Jobs do...think about it.

here's a thought - unsubscribe from iTunes, iStore newsletters, and anything else that you might be getting. It's a small thing, but if enough people do it it might start getting the message across.

I was going to buy another apple TV along with an Airport Express next week. iTunes 11 shook my confidence in Apple products; I'm researching alternatives as we speak. Nice Job Apple.

I've just noticed that updated apps on my iPhone don't seem to transfer over to iTunes when I sync it. Is it just me, or could it be yet another really poor move from Apple?

Despite having Mac and i-Everything, experiencing last week's upgrade seriously made me contemplate moving away from Apple. It started with minor annoyances with 10.7 and 8, but then iTunes 11 just killed my confidence in them. Glad to see I'm not alone.

I updated on Monday, and i am 100% disgusted with it.

IMHO the biggest mess-up from Apple EVER, take a great app and make it unusable and ugly.

What the **** are playing at??

I am slowly losing the love for my apple products after so many bad updates and failed new products.

My business partner is an Apple fanatic, he's an early adapter, someone who seldom complains about anything and even he's struggling/unhappy with itunes 11.
