Apple is happy to help me try and make Airport Express work for $19.99 per their phone line.

In the last 18 months I have bought:

MBP15, MBP13, Airport Express x 2, Apple TV x2, Imac, Ipad and Ipad mini and all my music and TV series from them. They upgrade to a faulty new Itunes 11 and it all falls apart and they want to charge me to trouble shoot it!

    Apple is the new Microsoft.

I am hoping that a third party will come up with a music database and player that doesn't cater to the lowest common denominator... If necessary, when synching my iPods and iPhone and iPad I can just transfer what I want and don't want in and out of iTunes.

I definitely want as little to do with Apple when it comes to my music as is possible.

Sixty four pages of what I imagine are all complaints.  iTunes 11 is deffo rubbish compared to iTunes that have come before.  I can't even be bothered to list my own complaints because I'm sure they've already been listed.  My Dad certainly doesn't like it....

    ....booooo!

    @ BenOr,

To give Apple their due, I had purchased a Time Capsule quite some time ago and just after a year, it died. I went to the Genius bar and they said "sorry" and I bought a new one. Later, in one of the Mac magazines i noticed that there was a recall for the Time Capsule and because I had not thrown the bad one away, I checked and I had one of the bad ones. I got my money back on my purchase.

Then, just after a year, the new one died. I first called Apple and told them my story and they waived the $19 dollar fee. We did a few experiments and verified that the TC was dead.I went back to the Apple Store and they said "sorry." The Genius at the store suggested that rather than purchase the TC, why not get a Airport Express Base Station, plug a hard drive into the USB port on the station and that would give me the same thing I had but with different components. I liked that idea and did that. Except that it didn't work. I called Apple and confirmed that what the Genious told me to do is in fact impossible. Base Stations are not designed to do that. At that point the Supervisor I was talking to OKed a new TC free of charge to replace the bad 2nd one I had.

Simply, if you are confronted with paying a charge, talk to them (DON'T INSULT, BE NASTY, RUDE, ETC.) and they very well might wave the charge. In your case, because you've bought so much that's related to using what the problem is, they will very likely wave the charge. -good luck.

BenOr,  iTunes 11 cannot possibly change the format of your music files.

    I thought that too.

The only thing I can think of is that files have been moved if tags have been changed & iTunes 11 was set to manage the library, it would mean that some files have the missing track symbol next to them. You can still find them if you have a rough idea where to look. The 10.x iTunes database should be backed up by the update to iTunes 11 too.

With new version I can't delete my audiobooks! Or transfer new ones from the OverDrive Console.

    By far the WORST!

I installed 11. No Airport Express. I removed 11 and installed 10.7. The program will not even open as it says the library was "created" in a newer version of itunes. Perhaps Ic an move it all and then try to import it. Tech support beleives the issue is related to my Firewall.

If you quit iTunes then reopen it whilst holding down the option key you will have the opportunity to start from a previous library. Navigate to your iTunes folder then Previous iTunes Libraries and locate the last library you have dated before you installed iTunes 11. This will reload your music files.

The iTunes 11 update is 1 step forward, 2 steps back. Maybe 3. But I don't think it's worth reverting to 10.7 unless you know what you're doing, have found reliable step-by-step instructions on the web, and understand that something could go wrong. My understanding is that Pacifist is required, and that some artwork may be lost. Sounds like more trouble than it's worth, but if you're game and competent go for it.

If it doesn't work out, don't whine. Report on this forum exactly what you did and explain what went wrong so other people don't make the same mistake.

I'm switching back and forth between 10.7 on my Mac Mini home system and 11 on my MacBook Pro. If Apple just restored a few missing features, like Cover Flow, I'd be quite happy with 11.0.1.

For those who are having trouble with 11, I'd suggest the Genius Bar at an Apple store if at all possible, or even one-to-one instruction at the Apple Store, which is $99 for a year.

If you've updated to iTunes 11 then reverting to 10.7 is simple. You need a 10.7 disk image and a copy of Pacifist to do this.

Quit iTunes 11 if it's running then launch Pacifist. Then drag the 10.7 image to the Pacifist window and choose to install it using Pacifist. Answer yes to all prompts and you will successfully reinstall 10.7 with no issues.

Thanks for that.  This new version verily sucketh!  I hate that I don't have the option to just scramble my music and go.  Now you have to make sure the little blue arrows are lit up, you can't really see the next coming song without clicking on a drop down list, royal pain in the arse!

At least your little tip helped get it back to a little bit of what it used to be.

If you happen to have a 10.7 disk image.  How would one go about getting that?

I just happen to have it in my DropBox...

As countless people have said before, the best thing to do in this situation is write to apple and give them your views.  If enough people write in they may take notice.   This particular forum is not connected directly to apple.
