IR Remote not working with iMac
Remote operates our Apple TV and my wifes iMac (2011). Doesn't operate my iMac (2012). I have no clue. Anyone got any ideas?

Good suggestions, all. But I already did them to no avail. In messing around I discovered that the remote signal was being picked up by the computer when an app started after pressing one of the buttons (other than the volume button, which was what I was trying to use). A bit more investigating revealed that a recently installed app called "Plex", billed as a replacement for the now deceased FrontRow was the cause, apparantly capturing all the remote signals and not passing them to the OS.
This Worked for Me
No Need for Plex or Anything Like that, I Use it on XBMC
I don't belive the 2012 iMacs have an IR sensor, or so I read
Note: If you see "Unpair" available in the Security pane of System Preferences, another Apple Remote may be paired to your computer (pairing allows only one Apple Remote to control the computer). You may want to unpair the remote and then pair it again.
2012 iMacs no longer have IR technology, sensor/receiver.
If you want to control your new 2012 iMac remotely.
If you own an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
Here's an app
