I have a 13 inch MacBook Pro, and all of a sudden, the headphone jack won't give me audio. I tried using my EarPods, by old iPhone 4S earphones, and even my Dre Beats. They all worked on my iPhone 5 but not on my MacBook. I can still use the buttons on all pairs of headphones to change the volume though, but it wont give me any sound. Help?

Click the Built-in Output.
Under Mute any box checked? If so, uncheck it.
Plug in the headphone and check whether the headphone shows up in the same panel under output.
If so, you can adjust the volume there.
I was having this same problem and followed the above steps. While my headphones show up in the panel as "Digital Out" I cannot adjust the volume here or using the regular volume controls.
I have tried 3 different pairs of headphones, none of which will work when I'm in iTunes. I'd like to be able to watch a movie or listen to music, but alas, this doesn't work. Strangely enough, when I use headphones on my Macbook Pro 13" (mid-2009), when watching YouTube, this sound does carry through. Why won't it work with iTunes?? 😟 😟 😟
I have this same exact issue, with the same Apple laptop and everything. 😟 I'm frustrated and don't know what to do. 😟
