past calendar dates won't post
if you decide to record something that happened in the past
and record it in your calendar the month before, why won't
your record post?

Check your setting in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and look for "sync" in the Calendars section. You get to sync only back to a certain time period or sync all events.
