If you specifically select UNLOCKED instead of the full price no contract version, yes it is unlocked.

That is EXACTLY what it says on the website. Apple does not use the term "Factory unlocked", it is merely unlocked.

You can use it with any compatible GSM carrier. There are only 2 supported carriers in India.

You will NOT be able to get it serviced through any official channels in India. The warranty is only valid in the country of origin.

Hello, i bought my iphone5 in atlanta for 700.92$ with tax and everything and i specifically asked the manager there who was wearing a black shirt while everyone was wearing a red shirt and he said that apple has not yet released an unlocked version of the iphone5 but when it does he told me that i would be eligible for the unlock process.
