I had music imported back prior to 11 and it all seems fine. I was able to download new podcasts and have them show up. However, for some reason, when I try and drag music into the main music area, or on the menu bar on the left, nothing imports. All files are mp3s, locally located and have always worked in the past, so I'm unsure what's going on. Has anyone had a similar issue? I've tried restarting itunes and restarting the computer and the problem persists.

i am having the same problems.  I have inported 2 diferent CD's.  They are showing up on the hard drive but i cannot add them to itunes.  if i go into the itunes folder manually and play the track, i can listen to it on itunes BUT it still will not stay on tiunes.

Same problem here.  I imported two CDs after installing iTunes 11.  They show up on my hard drive, but they do not show up in my library.  Oddly, they appear in my search results, but clicking on them yields no results.

Did either of you find an answer to this? I'm having the same problem with a purchase I made from iTunes. It purchased and downloaded and shows in my 'purchased' playlist but not in 'Artist' or 'Album' lists and won't come up in search.

I also tried to manually add the newly imported CDs.  No luck, they do not appear anywhere in the library.

If I try to re-import the CD, it tells me that it has already been imported.  I went ahead and re-imported it with no luck.

Now this is comical - I booted iTunes on my MacBook Air and of course the albums show up in THAT library.

Has anyone tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling? I'd rather not do it, but I don't have too many songs in my current library so I may give it a chance if no one else has done it.

I just restarted my iTunes and the album appeared as normal.

I don't think it's a problem with the media being added, I think it's a problem with iTunes showing it. Not that that makes it any less frustrating.

Try restarting iTunes and let me know if works for you

I tried that with no luck and then did a re-boot of my Mac, no luck there either

but then the following DID work:

I turned off iTunes match and then turned it back on - and both albums appeard in my library

hope that is not the "MO" going forward ...

OK, I just imported another CD and it immediately appeared in the library

Same issue here. I can see the files ou the Recently Added list, and even play then. But the artists/albums/tracks are neither shown nor can be searched. Feels like a bug. Apple should have a look at it.

did you check your preferences? I am not sure if it is still there but there was one thing you could check or uncheck: "copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library"...

    i'm just guessing...

I don't want to upgrade until I see if it is "safe"...

I had the same problem.  I had to go to the Store, find the link for "purchases" and then find recent purchases.  The new songs were there with the cloud icon.  I  had to click on the cloud for it to download to my computer.  Kind of odd...the new purchase had downloaded automatically to my iPhone.

i had similar issues with two purchases I made today. After some time, the files did show up in my itunes account. I am just wondering if there was an overload of requests being made to iCloud since iTunes 11 just rolled out.

I do have to ask if anyone was able to access any newly purchased songs made within iTunes and then accessing them in their iPad or iPhone. I can see one of the two songs I purchased but I cannot play that one song. Kinda weird if you ask me.

I have this problem too! I tried to import some new songs last night and they wouldn't appear anywhere in iTunes except in the search results (but wouldn't play from there either). The only way I could get them to play was by double clicking on the files in finder so that they opened in iTunes that way.

This morning, however, the files have magically appeared in the correct places.

Someone in another thread suggested it could be an issue with iTunes match taking a long time to think about things, but I've never had iTunes match turned on, so that doesn't make sense in my case. I am going to try importing some more mp3s and see if the issue happens again.

UPDATE: Just tried importing some more music and it appeared as it should. Maybe it was an issue with fresh installs of iTunes?

    My Solution:

I think its a bug, but when i viewed my recently played list under the playlist menu, i saw the songs that i added. When i went back to the normal songs list, the new mp3's popped up and the next few songs that i added showed up properly moving forward.
