Mac OS X Update 10.7.5 failing

I have been trying to update the software on my MacBook Air for a few weeks now.

Everytime it completes I get the following error:

'The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs.'

Or I get an error about my internet connection even though the internet is working.

My software is currently 10.7.4.

Is anyone experiencing this issue, I have researched the forums but I haven't found anything to fix the issue!

Thanks!

MacBook Air

Thanks for your reply, I was actually in the process of doing this. It has now downloaded but when I double click on the downloaded file I get this error:

'The following disk images couldn't be opened:

Image: MaxOSXUpdCombo10.

Reason: Illegal seek'

Is there something else you're supposed to do to then get the software to update one this has downloaded rather than trying to open it like you usually would open a downloaded item?

Any help would be great, this is driving me mad!!!
