Q: why do I have to close apps holding the home button????stupid

i was told to close the apps I have to hold the home button down and individually close each one??? there has to be a better way, JUST A IDEA BUT HOW ABOUT MAKING THE APPS CLOSE WHEN I CLOSE THEM??, this is getting anoyingly redundant!! the question is WHY?

    3. Multitasking is to quickly switch between apps and pick up were you left off. Think of it like a pause button, most apps don't accually continue to run in the background.

     

    This is how Apple describes it:

     

    Double-clicking the Home button displays a list of recently used apps. These apps are not necessarily actively in use, open, or taking up system resources. They will instantly launch when you return to them. Certain tasks or services can continue to run in the background.
