itunes 11 multiple windows

So far iTunes 11 seems decent, looks nice. However, previously I kept multiple windows open. For example one on the store to do searches, view categories, check for app updates, etc and one on my main library for playing music.

To create a new window you used to double-click on the category in the left side navigation window. I.e. double click on store to get a store window.

That doesn't work with iTunes 11. Nothing else seems to either (i,e. dragging the category from itunes 11, right clicking on it, etc. Nothing in the menus shows "new window" either.

Any ideas? Thanks.

You are not alone. I am so distressed with the new iTunes I can barely use it. They made a huge mess of what was wonderful, effecient, fun to use. Cover Flo was the worse loss of all. Of course Apple uses Cover Flo in the Store and a bunch of other places on their websites. It's like Windows Sent a Mole to work at Apple to

create an inferior product. Well, they suceeded.

I no longer enjoy using my computer. I bought Apple because of iTunes in the first place.

My confidence in this company has been shattered.

Viewing the sidebar doesn't pull up a playlist, it only shows a list of the names of the playlists. In order to work multiple playlists, you need your library up in a window and the playlist(s) open in another window so you can quickly drag and drop from the library to the playlists. As it is now you have to either go back and forth between the library view and a playlist view, or you have to mouse on a song, select Add To Playlist, then select the playlist.....over and over and over ad nauseum. With separate playlist windows, in iTunes 10 you didn't even have to have the main library window open. If you had two playlist windows open, you could drag and drop between them.

People that have a lot of playlists, and large playlists, and worked their playlists often really lost a lot with iTunes 10.

I know. Alas Apple use to pride itself in being user friendly. The entire ethic for Apple was to provide

a computer who's applications would be user friendly and adaptable to the needs of the consumer.

iTunes is just another affront to this ethic. HUGE step backwards. I downloaded a CD yesterday and

although it indicated that it had downloaded the entire CD, it doesn't show up when I look for the album.

Really?

I want Cover Flo back too. The icons are so small you can't enjoy the album art or flip through the

categories. That was such an easier way for me to locate an album.

I'm so disappointed in Apple. I really hesitate to upgrade anything lately.

I to am unhappy with Apple with the latest updates they are doing with iTunes from having multiple windows, how the search functionality returns results, and the new pratically unusable views they have given us.

I believe that the changes are a product of designers sitting on a mature well developed product and don't have any direction on how to improve it. So they make it worst and then reintroduce the old system as new features after we get used to the new limited functionality.

To be honest, I'm pretty unhappy with Apple and how they have been producing software as of late. Their hardware is very good, but on the software side they are deviating from the tried and true methods they have had established the past 8 years + in the past year to year and a half.

The thought of replacing Apple as the primary components in my home network hasn't crossed my mind till the past year. The cost of the products and the quality I get have always been great. Lately the cost of the products versus quality have been slipping therefore leading me towards seeking out other solutions... 😟

It's painfully obvious to me that if Apple don't put the multiple window functionality back in iTunes then they obviously don't care what their user base wants. everyone missis this feature! With all the requests for this feature they must return it to iTunes! If you Google "iTunes S**k*s" you get more hits then I would like to see for any utility/app that I bother to keep on my PC. I had been considering buying an Apple PC but this is a serious concern, I will now have to wait and see how this turns out.
