Adobe CS4: Updates failing to install

Hello all,

Having problems with Adobe CS4. It's a licensed copy

purchased about 3–4 years ago.

I recently had a big problem with my iMac and to fix it

the engineers performed, what I think they called a

'Low-level reboot'.

After I got the machine back most things seemed fine but

Adobe Acrobat stopped recognising the license so I had

to reinstall CS from scratch.

Since then the updates won't install fully, specifically

—Adobe Version Cue

—Adobe CSI CS4

(See images attached)

Any ideas?

Ps. Also this icon has a red cross over it at one point when trying to install.

Not really sure what it is though.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Adobe Acrobat 9, CS4

Version Cue content can be examined via Adobe Bridge. The Version Cue Server is written in Java. The portal reveals that running the Version Cue server also launches a MySQL backend.

Have you installed Java?

Can you open Adobe Bridge? If so, click on Help in the menu and select Updates.

Okay, did that through Bridge, entered my authentication

password and still failed.

I usually update through the Adobe Updater on my dock.

Anything else I could try?

Hi Peter,

Thanks for that. One thing I found useful from reading

that article is that although i have installed Java for OSX

(direct from apple.com) when I look for

Go to Applications > Utilities > Java Preferences.

I can't find these preferences!

Does that mean it hasn't installed properly?

Go here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html and download the Java SE 7u9.

Then check Systems Preferences:

the Java logo was there.
