How Does File-Sharing Work in iTunes 11?

I can't figure out how to do file-sharing in iTunes 11 since the Apps screen is completely different.

The Help instructions seem to be for the previous versions of iTunes:

Click Apps.

Below File Sharing, select an app from the list, and click Add.

The problem is -- there IS no section called File Sharing on the screen.

anupambh,

Go to the View menu and choose Show Sidebar. Then you can click on your device and see the screens you're accustomed to. I still don't know why the iPad button at the top right of the screen totally disappears, but it's not needed once you have the sidebar view.

Alright time to get to buisness and this should help

  1. Connect your IPod or whatever to you computer
  2. In iTunes, select your device (below Devices), and click the Apps button.
  3. somewhere in that screen it should say file sharing (its at the bottom) make sure to click the add button.
  4. In the window that appears, select a file to transfer, and click Choose.

Hi,

No need to enable Show Sidebar. Click on iPad/iPhone button on right hand side top. Don't click on little up-arrow in that button. It will disconnect your device.

Click on Apps in the bar just below the menu bar.

Scroll down you should be able to view file sharing.

In case you cant see the scroll bar, click on Maximize button of the iTunes window on the right hand side top corner. Now you should be able to see the scroll bar.

I have the sam problem as docskalski. I can expand my window all the way or shrink it down, I do not have a File Sharing section. I can shrink down to see the scroll bar, but I swear to you, I have no File Sharing.

I have selected my device.

I have selected Apps

I see my iinstalled apps

I can shrink my screen to see the scroll bar, but there is no File Sharing

I can expand to full screen and there is no File Sharing.

Believe me, there is no File Sharing.

I am using iTunes 11.0.4 on a Mac.

Here's how I found it, using directions above:

1) Go to View menu at top of screen. Select 5th item from top: Show Sidebar.

2) Under Devices IN SIDEBAR select your phone. (There are other places on the screen to select your phone; they don't matter.)

3) A series of tabs will appear: Summary, Info, Apps, Tones, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Photos

Click on Apps

4) Click in white area next to the word Apps. Avoid clicking on a button.

5) Scroll down. That white area you clicked in should scroll.

6) At the bottom of that area is File Sharing.

However: I have two apps installed on my iPhone that use File Sharing, and their icons show up in this area. I don't know what happens if you have no such apps installed. Maybe then you son't see File Sharing.
