With a couple of very minor exceptions, I'm finding pretty much the exact opposite of what seems to be the concensus here. Except for those minor issues, I'm liking it alot and am finding it much faster than previous versions and using half the memory it used to.
If they would just bring back the "show duplicates" feature, I would be in iTunes heaven and very happy.

Well! All your comments don't help me solve my problem, but they at least make me feel a little better!
Smart move to download new versions instead of insalling directly when prompted. I'll remember to do this from now on.
But this time it's too late. And I tried to uninstall the new iTunes and reinstall iTunes 10 but it didn't work. I got an error message and now iTunes won't open at all... !
I really hope that Apple employees reed these posts. And I hope they fix this problem soon. Because I don't even know if there is any other way to manage iPods and iPads.
Go into your library folder and look for "Previous iTunes Libraries"
Copy that into the iTunes media folder, replacing the one from iTunes 11.
Download and reinstall iTunes 10.X

Ya, right click the file, get info, one of the fields in one of those tabs is for media kind, need to change it to podcast for iTunes to recognize it as a podcast and put it in that list.

Ahh yes that is what I was doing... But for some reason it just doesnt want to change. Same with iTunes U. however Home Video, Movies, Music Videos and that all work still. (work as in move video to correct section).
Podcast and iTunes U just like sit in my Movies Section.

iTunes 11 is so far the WORST update ever. I'm thankful that I had the update only on my MacMini, gonna skip it on the rest of my Macs until someone fix this mess of a steaming pile of you know what.

Just wanted to chime in and say amen. I have never posted in any Apple Support community discussion until now. The username I just invented pretty much says it all. If anyone at Apple thinks their new interface is an improvement on Cover Flow, they should not be allowed to design anything more complicated than an ashtray. This is the second or third sign I've seen, just in the past month or so, that Apple is not what it once was. Products are being rushed into the market just so the people working for Apple can show how productive they're being. This is NOT the best iTunes ever. It's actuallly the worst. I hate it.

I'm with you, just spent the last two hours trying to upgrade. not a tech person myself so going around the bend and keep getting 2324 error and how in the **** are supposed to get any help on an Apple site? Impossible and infuriating.

Yes it's pretty bad I was able to get the menu bar back on, why in gods name would you ever want that off, got the staus bar back on and the side bar back so I could actually navigate this POS Now when I'm in songs and I want to see the album cover I have to pick a microscopic thumbnail which open a floating non dockable annoying dialog box with just the art work. The song navigation was so much better in 10 plus nice album artwork preview.
Then they buried the genius matches so you have to make 3 clicks just to get to them. I mean how stupid is that. That tool actually caused me to buy 100's of songs I had forgotten about because there was a nice genius bar to the right of my screen that showed related songs in itunes it was always up and i didn't have to click anywhere to see song suggestions. Looks like we need to do the same thing they did to "Richard Williamson" who was the leader of the iPhone map complete failure.
Apple please fix this and fire the iTunes product manager...............

Just writing in to say that I've been playing with the new iTunes and it's giving me a headache, literally, and I'm starting to understand why. Cover Flow is great for anyone who's got any degree of dyslexia, because you can simply flip through, and click, pictures while processing text only marginally. Obviously, if I'm typing these words, I can work with text well enough, but music is a right-brain medium and it was really awesome to be able to access my music through a picture-heavy interface. It created less clutter in my head and made it easer to switch back and forth between iTunes and whatever typing I had to do. Just now I stopped typing to play a different song, and it was much harder than it was before.
Please no insulting replies with deliberate misspellings. Nobody asks to be dyslexic and there' s no cure. Every dyslexic has to build workable interfaces with a text-heavy world. Thanks for taking away one of mine, Apple. Steve Jobs would be proud.

Agree there are up 8k people in the Mac section complaining about iTunes DJ being removed and replaced with "Up Next" bullcrap
And 5k+ complaining about coverflow design being eliminated as well.
So, that many complaints, from both PC and Mac users, in jus a couple days of release, they better be reading these posts.
I particalarly hate every little change they made, and I mean EVERYTHING.
Who is sleeping in the Jobs there in Apple?
