I would like to add that the interface now practically requires fullscreen. At least on Windows 8 it has no edges at all, no line marking the edge of the pure-white window that sits above the other pure-white window, all you see is part of the letter...bizarre.
Also, if you happen to close the window at full-screen on Win8, then open the app again, you get a full-screen window but the scrollbars are off the page and the "fullscreen/windowed" icon shows the wrong icon. If you click it again to go to windowed and then again to go to fullscreen you are back to normal.
I really miss the flipping cover-art view....sigh, why did it have to go, that was my favorite..watching dumb balls spinnig around is useless.
I also really miss being able to simply double-click on a playlist. Now I have to click the playlist and then go up to the heading and click the play arrow and if I want it randomized there doesn't seem to be a toggle, I have to click on the randomize icon each and every time...sigh, I really am unhappy with that part

Yes! And not only do I find 11 to be a PITA here at the house, I also have to support a lot of users at work with the IPADs that we gave all the execs. They are not going to like this version of Itunes either... and because it is so proprietary, I can't offer them a better alternative. I foresee unhappy people all around...

the worst update ever, it *****!
i catagorize all my music using playsists and often use two playlist windows to create new ones as i use my macbook for dj ing.
thank god for time machine i full restored back to prior the itunes 11 peice of **** and loving my old itunes 10.7 again.
phew! freakout averted.

You are not the only one I hate the new itunes !!!
Downloaded and installed it last night and had to re-boot so I didn't get to see it until I got home from work tonight.
I started it up, looked around for about 30 seconds and immediately deleted it. Downloaded and re-installed 10.7.
It took about 20 seconds to realise I hated it.
What are you thinking Apple? Make that crappy look an option. No menu, no sidebar, big clunky album covers instead of details.
Please fix !

The response is useless. The person is clueless and airhead as the iTunes development team. Can't believe they can give such response. Charging money to support POS (piece of you know what) software.

Unfortunately, I'm extremely underwhelmed by the new iTunes. I'm pretty computer savvy and was able to figure out how to make it look a lot like the old iTunes, but even so, this seems very buggy. Not unuseable for me fortunately, but I prefer the old version in a heartbeat. A few reasons (and it's possible I'm just not seeing certain options, but I don't think so):
- Buggy! Had to restore my iPod to get it to finish syncing at all (got stuck)!
- Similarly, apps I've updated on, say, my iPhone, don't update with iTunes on Sync - I need to update them again in iTunes.
- When I buy new music, for some reason it's not showing up right away anymore. Sometimes it doesn't even download and I have to download it manually by going into the iTunes Store.
- It screwed up my playlists slightly (reincluding cloud music I deleted, etc.); took some work to get them back the way I want them.
- Grid view (album art) now allows no resizing like you could previously with a slider...it's stuck smaller than I like.
- Home sharing with the AppleTV has been broken for me (pulling; pushing works fine) for a while now, before iTunes 11. But they'd fixed it two firmware/iTunes updates ago, and now it's broken again (but since the previous updates).
- If I search for, say, an Artist in the iTunes Store, I can no longer sort by various things I could sort by before - song title, popularity, etc. I can do this if I go into one album, but if I just want a whole artist, it seems this is unavailable.
- As some have said, the find duplicate feature appears to be gone (don't use this often, but certainly have in the past.)
I just don't understand why Apple's gone this route, unless it's better support for Windows 8 (which I'm staying away from since I don't care for that particularly either). I can think of a lot of things now missing/less helpful in this version, but not a single thing I like better.
Apple, I like your products and have been using them for a while now, but you're quickly losing your reputation for "it just works!" - each new software release and product is seeming more buggy than the last lately.

it is slow, tooo complicated and too many clicks on the UI.

Yet again Apple are showing their arrogance and dis-interest in their customers..... I downloaded the new version last week and within seconds I found issues with it, within minutes I found a huge number of users posting comments on how bad iTunes 11 is, and shortly after that I reaqlized that Apple are yet again hiding their heads in the sand and not addressing these issues.........I hate iTunes11!!! I am so close to scrapping my iPod and iTunes and never buying another Apple product again. This new version is all design and no substance. Apple get your a**e into gear and sort it out ...........
