my phone wont stop waiting for items to copy

the last few times I have syncd my phone to itunes it gets stuck on "waiting for items to copy" it's been doing it today for over an hour. It's step 5 of 5 and it just won't quit. Is there something I can do to get it to quit and go back to normal or do I need to go to the store?
